Top Dive Sites in Malvan, Tarkarli and Sindhudurg (2026 Guide)

The sea off Tarkarli and Malvan is part of Sindhudurg district. Our boat leaves from Tarkarli Bandar Jetty. The ride to the dive sites takes about 1 hour.

We dive at 10 sites. Some are shallow and calm. Others are deeper, with stronger currents. Here is what each one is like.

How We Pick a Site

We check the sea every morning. Then we pick a site that fits the weather and your level.

  • New divers go to calm, shallow sites.
  • Certified divers can go deeper.
  • The deep sites are best from November to March.

Best Sites for Beginners

These sites are calm and not too deep. Most first dives happen here.

1. Classroom

  • Depth: 3 to 8 meters
  • You can see: 10 to 15 meters
  • Level: Beginner

This is where most people take their first breaths underwater. The water is shallow and calm. It is a good place to learn and to relax.

2. Lighthouse (South, North)

  • Depth: 5 to 14 meters
  • You can see: 8 to 16 meters
  • Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Our most popular site. Beginners stay in the shallow part. Certified divers can go a little deeper.

3. Old Lighthouse (North, South)

  • Depth: 5 to 13 meters
  • You can see: 8 to 15 meters
  • Level: Beginner to Intermediate

A good second dive after Classroom. There is lots to see in shallow water.

Rocks with odd shapes and lots of small fish.

5. Lighthouse (West)

  • Depth: 6 to 15 meters
  • You can see: 7 to 13 meters

The quieter side of the lighthouse. We go here when the other side is busy.

7. Jackfruit

  • Depth: 6 to 13 meters

The rock here looks a bit like a jackfruit. Currents can change around it, so good buoyancy helps.
